Amsterdam area and Bruges

My wife and I plan to visit these areas in November and need to know how many days should we plan for. Is it worth 3 or 4 days?

We have been to Amsterdam before and are going back for 6 days in August then on to Bruges for another 5 days. Only our limits on vacation limit our time there.

I went to Amsterdam about 5 years ago when I was a student teaching assistant in France. Took a bus from Paris to Amsterdam, and spent 3 or 4 days there. Unfortunately, I had run out of time and money to go to Bruges.

How many days to spend in Amsterdam? Assuming you won't be suffering from jet lag, I'd say 2 or 3 days (3 days tops). There's a number of sites you'll probably want to see (Anne Frank House, Van Gogh Museum, Heineken Brewery, to name a few places). On top of that, you can rent bicycles and go cycling in and out of the city.

P.S. You'll be amazed at how clean the city is, including the red light district :)

I lived in Amsterdam for several years and go back and visit each year. I would say that 3 days in Amsterdam and 3 days in Brugges would be enough time to see the key sights. In AMS you can see the museums, outdoor markets at the north end and at albert cuypt and take a canal cruise. Dinner in one of the many restaurants is enjoyable. I would also recommend renting a bike. Weather in AMS can vary greatly and November can be quite cool and gray.
