Amsterdam: anonymous OV-chipkaart & IAmsterdam card

Hi all, I read from some places that only the anonymous OV-chipkaart with 55 Euro annual fee offer discount rate to train & tram. From http://www.ns.nl/home, the train ticket from Ams to Delft is 11.7 Euro (reg) & 7 Euro (discount). so if I buy anonymous OV-chipkaart, we won't get any discount for train ticket? Can anyone confirm that? For the 24 hr IAmsterdam card, if we start using it on Day 1 3pm, it will be valid until Day 2 2:59 pm, correct? For our 2.5 days, does it worth to get this IAmsterdam card? Since Van Gogh will be moving to Hermitage in Fall, we can use IAmsterdam for the VG exhibit in Hermitage, correct? thanks!

For a visit of only few days just purchase individual point to point train tickets at the tickets counters. You will have to do the math to see if the IAmsterdam card is economical. But in general if you visit three covered sites per day it's cost effective; you essentially get a free city transit pass out of it. The card covers the Hermitage and VG, so it should included at the Hermitage for the special exhibit. Your assumptions are correct about the validity. It's valid for the number of hours printed on the card.
