amsterdam and normandy, advice s'il vous plait

So i decided to take a trip to amsterdam due to pretty cheap tickets and non stop flights from seattle to ams (which is important due to the time difference in polar vs non polar routes). The original plan was to spend maybe a few days kicking around coffeshops / museums, relaxing, etc. I saw the cheap ticket prices were good for stays up to 9 days, so i decided to add a trip down to normandy. This is the part where it gets harder.
I would rather not have to try and compare a bunch of different intens; e.g. pricing open jaw tickets that fly into AMS and out of Paris, etc.
I guess i need some advice on how easy/long it is to get from Amsterdam to the Normandy area by train, cheaper/better to fly from ams to paris (is there an airport closer?), etc.
In Normandy, id like to take to victory tour and stay at chateu de lignerolles for ~2 days.
The iten so far would be like; arrive in AMS, spend ~3 full days, travel to normandy for a day or two, then back to amsterdam for a few days and go home. I think the travel time between ams and normandy is like 8 hrs (??) and would try to travel at night/overnight trains.
I'd like to limit the amount of time i spend on intra-Euro travel, but understand that may be unavoidable if im not willing to fly open jaw.
Do i have enough time to add Normandy? Any advice?

thanks guys!

Be aware that there are no overnight trains between Paris and Amsterdam and few flights; the Thalys high-speed train does it in 4 hours. IMO nine day is plenty of time to do both Normandy and Amsterdam- but you will be "wasting" two days in transit that could otherwise be used to make daytrips out of Amsterdam. By booking well in advance via the www.thalys.com site you can get cheap nonrefundable/non changeable fares between Amsterdam/Paris.
