We are looking to stay in Amsterdam for about 3 nights, for a family of 5, we would prefer to rent an apartment. Any suggestions?
Lisa it is hard to find rooms for five in Europe and Amsterdam is no exception, heck its not even that easy finding quads unless you look at the bigger hotels. Amsterdam has a reputation for very small rooms in some of those adorable old buildings. I also agree an apartment isn't worth the hassle for a 3 day rental ( many won't do less then 7 days and those that will do 3 days often add a short stay sur charge) .
I would check out tripadvisor.com Amsterdams forums the hotel reviews. I would enter "family rooms" in search box on Amsterdam forum too.. but I do think its going to be hard with 5,, how old are kids? You may need to split rooms , a double and triple, but maybe not, good luck.
Have a look on Airbnb. I was looking on the Amsterdam section the other day and there are tons of apts. and even boats you can rent. For a family, this might be your best bet.
The RHO Hotel has four person suites available. If one of the family members is a small child they may let you squeeze an extra person in there: http://www.rhohotel.com
Booking.com is a good resource for finding lodging of all kinds that would suit your needs. Use the gold search box on the top left of the opening screen. You must put in dates to have it work properly for your family. Otherwise you will only be given the option of having 2 adults. Use the Guests down box and click on More Options. That's how you get to the place to put in the number of kids. A pop up box will then ask for the ages of the kids. Your results will show only rooms that are appropriate for your family. The results can be sorted in a number of ways, including review score for families with younger or older kids. One caveat, don't expect anything to be cheap in Amsterdam, especially for that many people.
