Alps Skiing resources

We're looking to do a short sojourn to either Switzerland or Austria to go skiing next spring. Does anyone have any suggestions about guidebooks (Steves or otherwise) that might be helpful to plan our adventure? E-mail or post. Thanks

Rick Steve's books barely even acknowledge winter travel, and the only reference to skiing in his Germany/Austria book is a description of the ski jump museum in Innsbruck. Lonely Planet or the Rough Guide list most of the resort areas, but they don't have detailed information about lift tickets, rental, etc. I once saw a book devoted specifically to Alpine skiing, but I don't know who published it and I only saw it that one time.

www.epicski.com has a Europe forum. You'll also find Alps ski resorts in their Trip Reports forum.

The site has almost 20,000 members, including many who live in the Alps, and many more who regularly vacation there.

I ski the Alps at least one week every winter and can try to give you some insider insight:Switzerland: More old fashioned, not that many on-slope parties, after-skiing parties are limited to dinner with drinks at local restaurants. More pricey than Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy and Germany. Austria: Both old fashiones and very young skiing resorts, great on slope as well as after skiing parties all over the villages (outdoor and indoor), great Austrian food, average price level. Where exactly will you be, where will you fly into? Can you read German? Would you prefer a French speaking resort (that would be Switzerland only)?

At this time, we're not sure whether we're going to Austria or Switzerland. These posts are very informative. Thank you.
