Alone in Paris for 1st trip, safe area please

I too am looking for a safe hotel in Paris, left bank, hip area, easy route back to the CDG airport. I want to shop, eat good and go to the Tower... I only have 1.5 days to do it all... I can spend about $225.00 per night w/tax. Any help, I would really be grateful for. Thanks, Kelly

Any hotel that is near the Luxembourg or St Michel RER stops is easy transport back and forth to CDG. Lots of hotels in that area, in your price range, safe clean etc.
Most hotel websites give directions on how to get to them from airports and include which metro and RER stations they are closest to.
Addresses of hotels include a 5 digit code, 750 is Paris and last two digits are the arrondissmont( or area) that address is in. You are looking for 75005 or 75006 ( the 5th( Latin Quarter) or 6th(St Germain) arr.

Try Hotel Du College De France or Hotel Des Grand Ecoles , or Hotel des Grand Hommes , Google for websites and book direct , reputable and safe as well as good reputations.

I recommend a room with a balcony at Hotel St. Jacques on rue des Ecoles which is 1 block up from Place Maubert on Blvd St. Germain. It's a great location, very close to Notre Dame and all the fun of the Left Bank. And for me, a balcony is all the more fun and special. Even when you're in your room, you can still "go outside" and feel like you're a part of Paris. We had a corner room with a view of the Pantheon and the towers of Notre Dame from our large balcony, it was great.

I traveled by myself in Paris this past September and stayed at Hotel Paris France, near the Bastille. Felt very safe in that neighborhood and with the hotel. Enjoyed my stay with them very much. Kind and helpful staff - will help arrange shuttle to airport if requested. Cost was ~100 USD per night for a single with my own bathroom and shower.

Kelly -

Let me recommend two small boutique hotels that I have stayed in as well as family members.

  1. Hotel Danemark This is in the sixth district, you are a short walk to the river, St. German, le jardin du Luxembourg, and Montparnasse area.

  1. Queen's Hotel This is a small hotel near where I live in the 16th. This brings you to a different side of Paris - the Village Auteuil - very safe area and you are only 5 stops from Trocadero (across the river from the Tour Eiffel) - even better you can walk down to Pont Mirabeau and see the tower - great view,

When I traveled to Paris alone I liked staying at Hotel des Deux Iles on Iles Saint Louis--it was a good location and felt very safe. This is one of my favorite hotels though it's quite a lot more expensive now than in the past. Here's the website Hotel des Deux Iles
