Allmendhubel Flower Trail

In the first week of September (5th or 6th), is it worth walking the Flower Trail? That is, will there still be flowers in bloom? (Botany ain't m' strong suit!)

I was just there last week and the wildflowers seemed to be at their peak. I'm no expert, but doubt if there will be too many flowers left in September. It's still worth going up there however. The views are amazing, and you can either ride the funicular back down, or there are several possible hikes back down to Murren / Gimmelwald.

Thanks, Jill. We'll be staying in Muerren, and we do plan to take the funicular up to Allmendhubel and hike back down. Thought the Flower Trail might be nice if there's still stuff to see. Otherwise, we'll skip it.

Teresa, Even if the Flower Trail isn't "blooming" it's still a pleasant walk back to Mürren. The path I used last time went down into a small valley and past a small Pub & Hotel. There were some Cows grazing just below that, with their bells loudly "clanging". That path eventually passes under the Funicular track. Happy travels!

Although the flowers will be past, you may still see the dried Silberdistel which are interesting and beautiful. And it is a nice walk in any season.

Haven't done the Flower Trail, but the North Face Trail has ourstanding views. Check it out in RS book and also on Google and see what you think. TC

Thanks, all. I think what we'll do (provided the weather is nice) is take the funicular to Allmendhubel, mosey along the flower trail, get some lunch or a beer in the restaurant, and then embark on a leisurely stroll back down to Muerren or possibly Gimmelwald. Sounds like an easy and fairly stress-free day out, no?
