Alhambra Reservation

I've been trying for several months to work out an Alhambra reservation for a weekday in early October. Neither the web site nor foreign phone number seem to work. Am I missing something here??? Is 1 week advance in Spain enough time???

If you look back through the posts for a page or two, you'll find information about booking online. Someone was asking about it earlier. Maybe you can find what you are looking for there.

I saw another posting that stated the Alhambra was changing who they used for purchasing advanced tickets. The new website is www.alhanbra-tickets.es. The website is a little confusing, and the english translation a little off, but I was able to purchase tickets for October 20th without a problem. Good luck.

And even with a reservation - get there early. Last month we had reserved morning tickets (from 8.30) and got there just after 8am to find long (very long)lines for both those who had reserved tickets and those who had not. So don't assume you can arrive at around 8.30 and pick up tickets without a wait.

but on the flip side, they don't seem to be sticklers for time. We underestimated both the uphill walk to the Alhambra from Granada proper as well as the walk to the Nasrid Palace entrance after the entry through the main gate.

As a result we were about 20mins late to the first and about 30mins late to the second. They were very cool and didn't even seem to bother at all...but then we went on a December morning when it wasn't overflowing with people.

I am also having the same difficulties. I'm going to be there next month, and the website isn't working...hoping I can call or buy tickets through the bank upon arrival. Good luck and happy travels!

Lisa...keep trying the website...it seemed to be working as of this morning....http://www.alhambra-tickets.es. If not, you can call them at 011-34-934-923-750. A check of October 4th shows fewer than 900 tickets of the 3300 advance tickets for the morning session are left. To avoid disappointment, I would book as soon as you can. The #31 shuttle bus will take you up there from Plaza Nueva. If you plan to be around Granada for a few more hours, take a stroll thru the Albayzin, the old quarter, up from Plaza Nueva. The best sunset view of the Alhambra is from the Plaza Mirador de San Nicolas. If you don't want to make that climb, I think the #32 bus from Plaza Nueva takes you up there...but just ask.

Thanks for all the responses. It turns out that my Mac computer uses SAFARI to get on the internet. And I finally figured out that Safari doesn't connect well with the new website. Tried a friend's computer with a differet internet connector and got in no problem.

May I suggest, if you have the time, to do both a daytime and night tour. The night tour is absolutely magical! Not so many people and the lighting is very soft.....
