Does anyone have a great recommendation for a simple, clean little b and b in Aix en Provence...i only need a single room! Thanks!
I just got back from Aix. We stayed in a Hotel de Cardinale. Cheap and interesting, well located.
I was going to mention the Cardinal too, but it's not a B&B - - but it's only a block or so off the Cours. and I think their prices have gone up since the last time I stayed, but I've been staying there off and on for years. A buddy told me their a/c is dead until mid-summer if that's a factor - - you might want to check.
Thanks so much for info on Aix...I will check it out! Any other tips are appreciated!
France does not specialize in "B&B's." There are plenty of small hotels, but breakfast is usually not included (and the optional breakfast is rarely a good value, but can certainly be convenient). In Aix, I stayed at the Hotel du Globe, which was fine http://www.hotelduglobe.com/. Although the website is all in French, the staff spoke English (I did the reservation by e-mail without difficulty). I see their prices ("tarifs" at the top) are still pretty low, and you can get a room without a full ensuite bathroom for even less. They are just across the ring road street from the town center.
