Airport transfer from Charles de Gaule for 5 people?

Hi. We're a family of 5 coming from New Zealand and visiting Paris in August. We arrive from Edinburgh into Charles de Gaule airport at around 10pm. Does anyone have any advice about getting to the Marais district where we are renting an apartment, from the airport at a reasonable cost? Many thanks in advance.

take a taxi. this will be the fastest way to get there.

You might also research the price of a private shuttle. One taxi probably won't hold five people plus luggage.

We are not going to next May but that is what we will do for 4 people- and they will deliver you to the hotel. It is about 75E. but check to make sure they accommodate 5 people.

If you're packing light and can easily schlepp your own luggage, take the RER B to Paris and transfer to the Metro to get to the station closest to your apartment. The current fare is €8.40 (probably will increase slightly on 1 July) and includes unlimited transfers to the Metro and/or other RER lines until you exit the system.

A standard taxi won't work, but there are also minivan taxis in the ranks at CDG. While you won't be fighting traffic, the rate on the meter is higher at night so the fare would probably be around €60.

Marie, for a group of 5, a couple of methods to consider.

As Tim mentioned, using the RER "B" to Paris and then transferring to Metro is one option. The first station you'll arrive at is Gare du Nord, and it's a bit "large" so if you have lots of luggage that may not be the easiest solution.

There's also the Roissy Bus or Air France Bus, which will drop you either at the Opera Garnier or elsewhere in the city, where you can transfer to Metro.

Possibly the least complicated method (especially given the late hour and the size of your group) would be to use one of the airport shuttles, which typically use Minivans. I believe one of these requires passengers to phone when they arrive in Paris; the Van will then pick-up in front of the terminal and drop-off at the Hotel. For further information, have a look at www.airport-shuttle.com/, www.paris-airport-shuttle.com/, www.airportshuttleparis.com/page/ or www.airport-connection.com/ Some of these may have other passengers as well, so will drop-off at several Hotels.

You might check your local Book stores to see if you can find a copy of the RS Paris or France 2009 as details are listed there.

One other thing to keep in mind is that August is about the PEAK travel season in Europe, so pre-booking a Shuttle would be a good idea.

Happy travels!
