Airport to Rue Cler area

First time traveling to Paris. Arriving mid-day. What's the best way to get to and from the airport and our hotel in the Rue Cler area? Taxi? Train?

if money/euros is not object do a airport shuttle service or taxi. Or take Roissybus from airport to Paris opera Garnier then metro to rue cler area Ie. Ecole miltaire stop. it is all in Ricks guidebook.

If you're packing light, take the RER B from CDG to Gare du Nord, metro line 4 from there to Strasbourg St-Denis, and metro line 8 from there to either La Tour Maubourg or Ecole Militaire (whichever station is closer to your hotel). Cost: €8.20.

If you don't want to schlepp your luggage any more than necessary, take the Roissybus to Opera (€8.60) and a taxi from there to your hotel.

Brigid,

we used yellow van shuttle -- on time, front door drop off, and you can see Sacre Cour from the beltway on the drive in yellowvanshuttle.com.

Have a great time in the Rue Cler!!

Brigid, we did the Roissy bus to Paris Garnier and then the Metro to Ecole Militaire, the Roissy bus stops outside of Terminal 3 if you are coming in by charter.

I stayed in the Rue Cler area during late August of 2007. To get to the airport, I took the metro to the Opera, where there is an express bus to CDG. I believe the bus service is quite frequent, and it takes about an hour to get from Opera to CDG. It cost around 8 Euros or so, if I remember correctly.

Brigid... We usually take a shuttle- Golden Air or ParisConnection- lately though the drivers we have gotten on these shuttles do not seem to know Paris very well.We were in Paris October1-8 and the shuttle driver had 3 stops going from Charles de Gaulle into the city. We were the 3rd stop in the Rue Cler area. Took 3 hours. I think I could have walked it quicker. It was awful. We had to pick up a car at Orly and we took a cab. Easier and just as cheap. The hotels in the area will call one ahead of time. There are cabs at Charles De Gaulle and they are easy to find. The shutles are getting too high for what they give you.Cabs for two people were just a few euros more than the shuttles. We were in France for a month and we returned our car to Orly and took a cab to the city. With a cab you are the only one in it and it is just easier.
