we were wondering if the airport in marseille,fr. is safe for americans to use as a departure point????
Safe in what respect? Do you mean terrorism, the French language, pickpockets, plane crash or something else?
Please clarify if you mean the Provence/Marseille airport that is 20 miles north of Marseilles?
i mean from the grittiest of cities in france...is it safe?
If you mean the MRS airport, it's not even in Marseilles, if that's your concern. It's well north of Marseilles, about 15 miles north. If you're driving in from somewhere in Provence, you won't even see Marseilles. It's a typical regional/smaller airport in Europe, easier to navigate than most because of its smaller size, I've flown in there and had no problems.
Marseilles is a wonderful city, full of history going back thousands of years, great food, interesting neighborhoods, and wonderful people. I've spent a lot of time there and have never had a problem. Don't hesitate to use the airport, or the train station, or the....
Glad to see Marseilles has its defenders. t's an old rap, along with you can't get good food in England - both wrong, IMHO.
