Airport hotel in Frankfurt

Im having trouble understanding the difference between the Sheraton hotel at $250+ and other airport hotels advertised for under $100 that have free shuttle. I just want to drop my car off, stay in a hotel and get up and fly out. Where can I stay that will NOT involve much time and effort to get to the airport? My AAA person suggested Mecure Frankfurt and NH Frankfurt. Anyone have any ideas?

Well, the Sheraton is right there at the airport. A cheaper, free shuttle, hotel would be great, too, unless you need to leave at the crack of dawn, before the shuttle runs. For example: The Frankfurt Airport Motel One has a shuttle that runs from 6am until 11:30 pm, every half hour and hour. The reception is staffed 24/7. You need to let them know about 30 min. before that you want the shuttle. Single rooms from 59 Euro, breakfast buffet 7.50 Euro, check-in from 3pm. The Radisson Park Inn says it's 1 km from the airport and the shuttle runs from 5am until 11pm. I'd think you'd need a place convenient to your car drop-off.

Have you checked out the new Hilton Gardens at the airport? Not sure of their prices, but it is supposed to be a 3* and should have lower prices. The Sheraton is expensive because of its location, its meeting space and conference rooms, etc. If the price is $250 there may also be a trade fair in Frankfurt. What dates were you looking at? Some people would rather not wait around 30 min. or so on a shuttle, or their flight is early in the morning, and a shuttle at 6 is too late. So, they book the Sheraton. If you are going to wait around for a shuttle, you might as well stay in Frankfurt, where the rooms are much cheaper and you have something to do in the evening before you fly. Trains only take 11 min. and there is a train every 15 min. starting at 04:15. One way tickets to the airport are 4.10 euro.

The airport Sheraton is connected directly to the terminal by a walkway, and hence, it's the only "airport" hotel where you can simply wake up and walk to your flight. All of the other airport hotels sit in a cluster between the airport and downtown. So, your options are either the Sheraton, a shuttle, or a short train ride.

I guess I should clarify. I will be returning a car to the airport on 10-4 late, I don't want to spend any time in Frankfurt, I just want to go to sleep and get up, eat breakfast and go to the airport for a noon flight. I want something convenient safe and easy from the car drop off. But under $270 which is what the Sheraton is that night. The biggest question I have what hotel can I shuttle to from the car drop off?

I guess you've checked that you can drop off your car "late". Can you call and see if they can run you to your hotel or else, pick a shuttle motel a short and cheap cab ride away from the rental car place.

Hi Jeanne, We were in your situation last September. Dropped the rental car off at the airport in the late afternoon, then just wanted a hotel with easy access to the airport the next morning. We chose the Ibis Hotel Frankfurt Airport, Langer Kornweg 9a-11, Kelsterbach, 65451, Germany. I just checked rates for September of this year and they have a double room for $110 US (breakfast not included). They have a shuttle bus to and from the airport. The hotel itself is nice and rather modern, and has a little "snack bar" at the bar and also a full-service restaurant that serves breakfast if you want it. The only drawback is that the hotel is in a somewhat questionable neighborhood, but since you'll probably take the shuttle bus to the hotel and back to the airport again, you wouldn't even have to go outside. It worked out well for us. Good luck!

We did the exact thing you are doing a couple of years ago. We stayed at the NH Frankfurt Airport hotel and utlized the shuttle the morning of our flight.
I have no complaints at all about the hotel or the shuttle service. It was modern, clean, had a relatively decent restaurant and was exactly what we needed. I don't remember the cost, but I know it was much less than $250. I would definitely stay there under the same circumstances again.

look into the Steigenberger Airport Hotel. It's right at the edge of the airport grounds, they have 24 hr shuttle bus service, and the ride to the hotel is no more than maybe 3 minutes. Excellent restaurant facilities, business-class place. I stay there EVERY TIME i have an early flight out of Frankfurt, never been the least bit disappointed. FORGET going into the city or any farther away .... its just not necessary. Hope this is a help to you.

We stayed at the Steigenberger Airport Hotel also. Good location and ride to the airport and there's a nice restaurant on the grounds too.

It sounds like the Steigenberger would have what I want but do you know if it has free shuttle to terminal one?

Yes, it has a free shuttle that runs every 15 min. and that stops by Arrivals, A-1 at terminal 1.
