Airfare -why the price drop?

I'm booking a summer trip to Italy and Spain. Airfares dropped nearly $200 when I pushed the trip from June 18 - July 1 to June 23 - July 7. Is there some reason for the decrease in price? What don't I know about these dates/ summer in Southern Europe? Is it really hotter than the American South?

Possibly because the latter dates are both Tuesdays...possibly the quietest day of the week for airlines? Check June25th to July 9th to see if there's another jump
