air travel to one city, returning from another city.

Is it possible to choose flight to Venice, Italy and then return flight from Barcelona, Spain using sites like Expedia, etc. If so how?

On Expedia look for the radio button called Multiple Destinations; on Travelocity there is a link for multi-destinations. They're right there close to the one way and round trip buttons.

You can also book multiple destinations directly with the airline website. If possible I would always book directly with the airline and not have a middleman to deal with like Expedia or Travelocity.

Just this past week using Air France website I was able to book a flight from LAX-CDG with a 2 day stay in Paris. From Paris heading for Geneva airport and returning 2 weeks later from Zurich to LAX with a change of planes in CDG airport. Using the website it was less expensive to travel from LAX to Switzerland than from LAX to CDG only.

Susan, That particular type of flights is termed open jaw and is certainly possible although the cost is often a bit higher than for return flights to and from one city. As the others mentioned, the "key words" to look for are "Multiple Destinations". While the cost for open-jaw flights may be a bit higher, it's important to balance that against the time and cost of having to return to the starting point. Happy travels!

.... Occasionally an open jaws ticket is cheaper than the standard rounder.

I have always found the airline website to be cheaper when booking multi city tickets. Expedia tends to be better for domestic airfare specials in my experience. It would be interesting however if you do find better prices on a booking engine site. Good Luck!

I'm with Tim. I use other sites to compare prices, but always book directly with the airline. I have always found the airline website to be less than the other booking sites, and it is easier to deal directly with airline in the event of changes.

I usually peruse an aggregator site to see multiple fares on different airlines, then go directly to the airline site to book....register for a air miles card if you dont have one at that airline! The ITA software sight is easy to use, allows multiple segments: http://matrix1.itasoftware.com/cvg/dispatch

This is what good travel agents are for. You then have someone to help you if something goes wrong with your airline or schedule.

We flew into Rome and back home from Milan. Airline ticket was a lot cheaper than round-trip from DFW/Rome! We were already planning on taking the train to Florence for a week. Flying out of Milan saved us over $300 EACH. Train ticket from Florence to Milan only took up 1/3 of that each so in the end we saved $200 each and got to see The Last Supper!
