Air Conditioning needed in Paris in mid-July?

Four of us will be traveling to Paris in mid-July and want to stay in a quad room (cheaper by splitting the cost). We have found a great place in the Marais area, but it doesn't have AC. Will it be sorely missed July 9-11?
Thanks for your help!

I always go to Paris in the summer, anywhere from June through Sept.
It always has seemed to me that I baked, and when I stayed with relatives( none of whom had A/C ) I found it unpleasant.
So I now always book hotels with a/c , even thought they tend to cost more.
This past August I took a friend to Paris who had never been, I told her to pack " sundresses, skirts and lightweight capris, it is sooo hot " ..

It rained almost everyday of the nine days , plus it was decidely cool most of them. We never used the a/c once.

This July I am going again, and yes, I am still going to book a hotel with a/c. I just find after a long day of sightseeing possibly in the heat, I need a cool place to rest, and many public places are not air conditioned.
I am also going to take more then one sweater and one pair of long pants,, LOL , just in case!

The average weather would be from the 70s to the upper 40s. So 'statistically' speaking, you should be fine, but hot weather is definitely a possibility. If its any consolation, I'll be there with my family about a week prior and we have an apartment without AC.

Think cool.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. Funnily enough, we are all from Texas! My husband and I are now living in London for a few years and will have our best friends (who still live in Texas) visiting us. I'm sure we will be fine as we are accustomed to 95 in July. I read that the hotel supplies fans when it is too warm, so I think I'll chance it. I think we need to give our friends the European non-AC experience anyways.

Do remember that some charts showing " average" high temps are averaging them out over a 24 hr period, so it is likely that if it says average highs are mid 70's , the actual highs during day could be much higher,, just a thought.

Eli, you will be fine, just think dry and sunny thoughts!!
(ps, you are from a place called "TORNADO Alley" how can you be "worried" by a few showers)

I have heard that apts can be cool even without A/c as long as they don't get afternoon sun,, the thicker brick and stone walls are insulating to some degree.

I have always been in Paris in summer and needed air cond. espec with 4 you want to be comfortable to sleep and recuperate for the next day. Better to save euros on something else but not skimp on the air cond. Be careful some places use a/c but it means air cooled (fan).

Hi Vonda, We have spent many June/July in Paris and other parts of Europe and it can get very hot. Now I go to a discount store and buy a cheap, full sized, electric fan (about 10 euros). We rent a car upon leaving Paris and I throw the fan in the car. Then each night at the hotel or apartment, we have a good source of cool air. And I give it away when we leave for home.

Like Eli, my husband and I were in Paris during the July 2006 heat wave, in a hotel with no a/c. I'm from south Louisiana and was miserable, so don't buy the "you can handle it argument"! After a day in the heat, you will want the a/c, otherwise you will never cool off. Granted, that was during a heat wave, but as someone else pointed out, those have been common the last few years.

Enjoy and stay cool!
