We wil be flying into Germany from Spain on Air Berlin. Their baggage rules are quite specific regarding the weight and size of luggage allowed for overhead bin storage. Has anyone personal experience regarding whether they would allow me to also hand- carry a small (16"x16"x6") canvas "tote bag" into the cabin in addition to my daypack (which meets their weight/size criteria for bin storage)?
Joe, I've found that European airlines are very strict with carry-on, so I very much doubt whether they would allow the extra tote bag. On the topic of Cabin Baggage, the Air Berlin website states "For reasons of safety as well as convenience, each passenger is only allowed to take ONE item of cabin baggage into the cabin. Cabin baggage must not weigh more than 6 kg (8 kg incl. laptop) and the dimensions must not exceed 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm" (I added the emphasis). I believe this rule extends to most E.U. airlines. Happy travels!
I think you will find that one means one. If you have two, one needs to be checked.
