Will I be able to keep my medications (pills) in my "daily pill box" or will I have to keep them in their labeled bottles?
If I'm not mistaken, law requires you to keep them in their labeled bottles. Personnally I would anyway, then seperate them when you get to your destination.

Many people who post here say that they travel with pills in their daily pill containers with no problem. Others have done so, but carried a copy of the prescription with them. Still others have asked their pharmacist for smaller labeled containers for their trip. We have only rarely heard of anyone even being asked about pills.
I don't carry prescription medication, but have never been asked anything about my baggie of vitamins, supplements, etc.
Technically you're supposed to keep everything labeled. But traveling into Europe, customs checks of baggage is rare. It's more of an issue when to head back to the US. If you're selected for a hand search by US Customs, they'll hassle you if you have unlabeled medications...it's happened to me. If you're bringing along just enough pills to cover your trip it shouldn't be an issue putting them in your pill box.
You might consider your own profile. If you look like you're old enough to need medication, you can probably keep them in your pill box. I'm assuming you are, since you actually have a "daily pill box." If you are young, carefree, and headed to Amsterdam, you might keep them in the original containers.
I have done it all ways but after being questioned
or delayed departing/entering US, I always carry them in labeled bottles now.
If you tell your pharmacist you're travelling and
prefer smaller sized bottles, they will do this for you. Depending on length of trip you may need (2) small bottles for (1) prescription.
Then use your planner when you arrive.
It is more time when you get settled but less time and confrontation while in transit.
My (mail order) pharmacy wouldn't help me out at all, so I made my own labels with the names and doses and number of pills and stuck them on ziplock bags. I've traveled to Europe several times in the past few years and have never been questioned either leaving or entering the U.S. If you have a health profile that coincides with the Rx drugs you're carrying, even better.
And if you are my age, they don't even give pills a second look. I do take my meds in their prescription bottles and I do carry a letter from my primary doctor explaining one of my meds (heavy duty) and what it is for. Better to be safe than sorry.
Keep in bottles. We had a customs check in France and without the bottles, I would have been in trouble. I take a lot of meds.
