Affordable Accomodations in Paris?

Any suggestions on where to stay in Paris for cheap? Hostels or pensions? I will be there for only 3 nights, midweek. Thanks.

What is cheap,, I mean your budget in euros. If you are looking for under 100 euros I could suggest Hotel Des Mines, go to tripadvisor.com and look for hotel reviews(left hand side of page) , click on " paris hotels" and start reading.
There are cheaper places, but it really helps if you post what YOUR budget is,, cheap means different amounts to different people .

If you want cheap accommodations, look up info in Let's Go or Rough Guide books. There are some hostels in Paris; check for recommendations on this website or at TripAdviser.com.

Both Rick Steves and Lonely Planet call the three MIJE hostels in the Marais "the best budget accommodations in Paris." They are renovated 17th-century private mansions. Go to www.mije.com.

Thanks all. Appreciate the responses.

I realize cheap is relative but wasn't sure what the expetation should be for Paris. I'd like to keep it def under 100 euros. Basically, looking for a central location, no frills but clean.

Thanks again.

check out Hotel Kensington in the rue cler area. it is in Ricks book no air condition but a reasonable and fair rate for a clean well located hotel.

Hi Tracy,

The Hôtel Esmeralda is directly across the Seine river from Notre Dame cathedral... couldn't be more centrally located. There's a web site for you to copy and paste below. In it, you'll find the comments/ critiques of former guests. This old world hotel has only 19 rooms and with their budget rates rooms do not remain available indefinitely.

Copy and paste this: ...

Have a great visit to Paris! bon voyage ... P.

Hi Tracy, We will be staying at the Appihotel on rue St-Denis for eight nights. I found them on hostelworld.com. We are paying 22.50 euros a night. Hostelworld has numerous reviews from guests that have stayed in their hotels/hostels recently. My hotel is in the 2nd Arrondisement which is very centrally located. Granted, the area has quite a shady past (oldest red-light district in Paris) but all of the reviews were very positve and none of the guests were bothered by the local activities. When it comes to travelling I see my hotel as "a bed to sleep in" while I'm out and about enjoying the city. Hope this site helps. I've been staying at hostels and cheap hotels for ten years and have had a great time each trip! Good Luck

We just stayed at the Jeanne d'Arc Le Marais (Two Star) and the rate was 84 euros a night. I booked this on the reviews at Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. This was excellent value in a great and historic area, within 15 minutes of the Notre Dame and the Bastille area. Great restauants nearby. Corner room on the 5th floor (with elevator). We were not disappointed with this little find. www.hoteljeanndarc.com . While checking the "comments" book I noticed a recent XMAS card from the Steves family, so I guess he's stayed there as well!
