I am at aconference in Geneva but then have 5 days to explore ending in Zurich where I fly home to Toronto. I would like to do the Interlaken visit with the train etc. Anyone have any advice or tips on the rest?

I wouldn't stop in Interlaken. I would go all the way into the valley and stay in either Lauterbrunnen, Murrren or Wengen, and stay for at least 3 days. This is the area most of us consider the most beautiful area of Switzerland. Lots of great train / gondola rides to the high peaks, and great hiking! You could easily spend the whole 5 days in that area, or you could do 3 days there and 2 days in Luzerne.
