Well following a previous post - Our 3 week trip dep 31st May to France / Tuscany & Switzerland is booked! My question is now the best route to take once leaving Paris (3 x nights) Had planned to go through the middle as I hear it's beautiful but hubby is a surfer so would be crazy not to taking him over to Bordeaux region to some of the beach ( even though there may be little or no swell this time of year) Is this going to be too much of a detour? I hear Bordeaux dosen't live up to the name? We will then go through provence and into Italy, down to Tuscany. We weren't planning to go to Venice as I have been twice but hubby now has expressed interest in going - is this trying to do too much?
Once I have a better feel on the above I can work our roughly how long we plan to stay in each area to map out the route properly. There are so many great places to visit in France it is a little overwhelming to choose! Really appreciate any advice!! Thanks!
Sounds like a lot of criss-crossing whether you are driving or taking the train. Before you settle on a hard and fast route, Google map it using the directions option if you are driving. Use the DB Bahn for trains. The time getting there may affect the locations you choose, especially if you want to spend a some time on the ground and not just traveling through it. Be sure to check the extended weather forecast. It may not be perfect, but it will give you a hint of the weather for early June. Last year may have been a fluke, but northern France was cold and rainy for the first three weeks we were there. It didn't get warm and sunny until we got to Provence the last week of June.
Ho Lo, Thanks very much for your feedback. Yes I'm thinking now if we had straight down to Lyon, Provence, French Riveria and into Tuscany.....this might be better? I did hear that June was pretty ordinary in France last year. We've had pretty wet summer where we are in Australia so fingers crossed it dosen't continue.
