My wife and I are interested in spending a 1-1/2 week in a small town and exploring the local region. We especially like a beautiful lush green landscape. From what we gather so far, the Dordogne region seems to fit this description. Do you agree or have any other region suggestions? Also, we are trying to decide when to visit this region between the spring (April, May) or fall (September, October). Would the French countryside be as lush green in the fall as in the spring? Thanks in advance.
If you are looking for lush green I would definitely recommend spring. After a hot dry summer you won't see much of that in the fall.
The Dordogne is a great pick and I would not try to talk you out of it. But it is not the only lush green part of France! May would be best.
Burgundy is very lush, gorgeous in the spring with the colza fields in bloom.
I agree about May. I also agree about Burgundy, especially the northern part. Also Beaujolais. And the southern Ardeche.
