advice for 21 yrs old in switzerland for 4 days

My daughter, studying abroad in Copenhagen, will travel to Switzerland in mid May for 4 days. What do you recommend her to fit in 4 days? Would the Golden Train Panoramic be a good option? She will be on her own for this trip.
Thanks in advance

rima, The answer will probably depend on what she's most interested in seeing, and what type of budget she's working with? Also, which airport is she arriving and departing from? One possibility would be to spend four days either in Lucerne or four days exploring the Berner Oberland (Lauterbrunnen, Mürren, etc.). Although Interlaken might not be too exciting, that's also an option in that area, as there's a good Hostel there (Balmer's Herberge) so it would keep the cost of accommodations down. Cheers!

Lola, Thanks for mentioning that. I should have also mentioned the famous Mountain Hostel. rima, If your daughter decides to stay at the Mountain Hostel, I'd suggest pre-booking as it's very popular and can be booked up a long way in advance. The other place that Lola suggested is also a good low-cost option, but it's located in Mürren which is the next town up the mountain. If your daughter needs more detailed directions on how to reach Gimmelwald from Interlaken, post another note. Cheers!

She will most likely be flying into Basel. She loves natural sightseeing. She is indeed on a college student budget, and the hostel recommendation is great.
Thank you

rima, when my kids were college students they really enjoyed tstaying at the Mountain Hostel in Gimmelwald, high in the mountains: http://www.mountainhostel.com/ The views are lovely and whe will meet other young people for hiking, bicycling, and sightseeing. Another possibility would be a single room at Chalet Fontana, a B&B in Mürren, the town just above Gimmelwald. To reach either of these places, she would travel 20 minutes by train beyond Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen, and then reach the village above by bus or cablecar. I think she would enjoy staying in this beautiful place, meeting people, and hiking or walking to see the scenery more than a long expensive train ride like the Golden Pass.

Thank you both Ken and Lola for the great advice.
The Mountain Hostel website did give directions, but we're always open for additional info. We are completely ignorant about Switzerland.
