My husband and I are planning a trip to Spain in Sept. 2007. I visited www.alhambratickets.com to buy advance tickets for the Alhambra, but a message on the site states that the early sale of tickets for visits after July 31, 2007 "is adjourned". Something about the "forthcoming termination of the convention." Curious if anyone has further information about this. Thanks!

Check out the post titled "Alhambra in Granada", with a Last Post date of 03/31/2007, in this forum. An alternate web site was provided.
As advised in the previous post, I checked the website listed in the 3/31 post. Using that link if you don't sign up for a tour, it just routes you back to the official Alhambra website that won't sell advanced tickets after 7/31. I have heard that the contract with the company (I think it's a bank) that sold the advanced tickets is ending... We don't want to take a tour, just get tickets to visit the site in October. I also read that the Granada city council has set up a new Granada City Pass that includes a reservation to the Alhambra as well as access to other sites. The website seems to be an official website (http://www.granadatur.com/old/DATA/mainEN.htm). Is anyone familiar with this site or maybe has used this pass? If so, do we need to purchase it in advance or just when we arrive in Granada. Thanks!
It might have been my reply late March - but this is the site we used
http://www.alhambradegranada.org/guias/alhambraEntradas_en.asp
which ends up on this site
https://w3.grupobbva.com/SMVE/home.html This was for for July tickets. I just (now) stepped all the way through to where you need to put in credit card details - with an October date - with no problem. But maybe the problem arises after that point?
That's the site I used, but I didn't go farther than putting in the dates because the following message is displayed at the top of the page. "Following instructions issued by THE ALAMBRA AND GENERALIFE'S BOARD OF TRUSTEES, and due to the forthcoming termination of the convention, THE EARLY SALE OF TICKETS FOR VISITS LATER THAN 31 JULY 2007 IS ADJOURNED." When I called the phone line they said they weren't taking reservations for later than 31-July. I didn't want to risk my card being charged for something I don't receive.
I am having the same problem trying to reserve tickets for Alhambra for September. The web site is not accepting reservations after July 31st. If anyone has found another way of securing tickets, I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks. Robert
I just noticed that the Guidebook Updates section on this site was updated with the latest information... http://www.ricksteves.com/books/update/bk-rs-sp.htm
you can try show up in the morning, and they usually have slots in the afternoon open so you can make at the entrance. i think the reservation is only for the arab quarter, and 2 to 3 hours is enough. you can spend the rest of the day in the other areas, which don't require a reservation.
Just gat this email from the people at the alhambra today
Alhambra is changing its online tickets system.
You will be able to buy Alhambra tickets for sept 2007 the next 28 of June at: www.alhambra-tickets.es
