accomodations near Colmar, France

I'm looking for hotels or B&B's in the area of Colmar. I've already reviewed Rick Steve's recommendations, as well as this website, so now I'm asking for your personal experiences. I'm looking for someplace inexpensive, clean, safe, and with available parking. Thanks in advance for your help.

We've stayed at Maison Jund, which is in Rick's book. They were very friendly, and it was quite inexpensive, clean, and safe. There is parking available, but ask them when you check in about where you can park and when. We had parked in the road outside their home, but apparently they have laws about which side of the road you can park on for different days. One day, we were fine, the next day, we got a ticket.

Dear Anita,
We had a fabulous meal in Colmar in 2006. We visited the Bartholdi Musee (much more than the Statue of Liberty- a special small museum)on our way to the Underlinden (sp?). At #24 Musee Barthaud (sp?) a few doors from the Bartholdi there was an inner courtyard on the left with a restaurant called L'Arpege. The husband was the chef, the wife the server. For 23Euros apiece, we had the price fixe luncheon that we still rave about. The wife spent a lot of time with Audrey discussing the various ways the food had been prepared. The husband had been invited to open restaurants in Paris on several occasions but loves Colmar and wanted to stay in his small place surrounded by friends and neighbors. If we return to Burgundy, we plan to contact the restaurant to see if it istill the same owners... if so, we will detour for another meal there... it was that good. We also leased a car one day and drobve to the Chateau de haut Koenigsburg. That and the vineyards made a great one day trip. George Werner, Pittsburgh

Anita, conside the Hotel St. Martin in Colmar. We stayed there and were absolutely delighted. It is in the center of town and you can walk everywhere. We loved Colmar... one of our favorite places and plan to be there again in September!

We stayed in a B&B called Chez Leslie. www.chezleslie.com. Great location, parking is easy. Within walking distance of the main tourist area of Colmar. Excellent breakfasts, and Leslie gave great advice regarding restaurants and things to see and do. Highly recommend.
