accomodations in Salzburg austria

We are three adults traveling by car and looking for accomodations in salzburg for the weekend of Dec 17-18. Many hotels are already booked. We would be happy to stay slightly outside Salzburg and use public transportation, but do not know where to look. All suggestions greatly appreciated! We are hoping to visit Christmas markets in salzburg, and perhaps attend a concert, so we would need a location where public transit was available til around midnight. Alternatively, is there a place to park in salzburg itself if we were to stay outside the city? Thank you again!

According to Booking.com, Hotel zur Post has one triple room left for two nights, arriving Dec. 17. I don't know if they have parking but you might inquire. Price is good.

Landgasthof Kohlpeter also has one triple room left, at 125 euro per night. Website says it is "Close to the center of Salzburg and only 660 yards from the highway exit, the Kohlpeter is one of the most attractive hotels in the city."

we stayed at Haus Ballwein in Sept. on Moossstrassa. large room, great breakfast, parking for your vehicle and the bus stops are right in front of the place...so very easy to get to the centre of Salzburg. It was a great place to stay. Check out [email protected]

Joanne, I didn't check to see if they had any vacancies, but you could check This Hotel. I've stayed there in the past and found the room very comfortable and the owners were great. Good luck!

That appears to be a popular weekend. You are going to waste a lot of valuable time checking random places suggested by people who did not check on availability for you. Goldene Krone has no triple room available for Dec. 16 pr 17 ( they do for Dec. 15 or 18 but that doesn't help.) And Haus Ballwin will not let you check availability online, you have to fill in a request form and they answer by email. Or you could call them. Best to do what Lola suggested and use a search engine like Booking.com or to find places that actually have availability for the dates you need. Good luck!

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Bergland. http://www.berglandhotel.at/www.berglandhotel.at/Home.html We arrived by train but there was parking immediately at the hotel. It is in "new town" about 10 minutes walk from the Altstadt. It is a nice residential neighborhood near restaurants, etc. Others feel differently but we like being a bit away from the tourist crush of the city center. We liked an evening walk along Franz-Josef-Straße to the Mirabell Garten and a view of the city. Regards, Gary

Thank you all! I quickly started to realize that it is a very popular weekend in Salzburg! As a result, I e-mailed or called the hotels you suggested directly. Most were full but several referred me to the Bloberger Hof and I was able to get a room there. It is outside central Salzburg but it has parking and there is a bus right outside. I will let you know how it works out for your future reference. Many thanks again for your help.

Thank you James...that is great to hear. (Since this is a very last-minute trip, our copy of "Rick" will not arrive until tomorrow!) The people we spoke with at the hotels suggested on this RS helpline were lovely and so helpful. It certainly feels better to find a hotel this way than through one of the booking sites. I am sure we will have a great time and be able to add to the positive reviews of the Bloberger Hof. Thanks again to all!

Joanne,
We stayed at the Bloberger Hof for 3 nights in October and it was a greatexperience. You'll enjoy your stay! It's an easy bus ride to the city center and if you decide to have dinner at the hotel one evening, the restaurant is very good.

You can't go far wrong with the Blobergerhof. Just like James, I have a review there too. We have stayed there frequently and love it. They do a great evening meal, too.

Thank you all! I am so glad I wrote into the helpline. You have helped turn a rather frantic attempt to find a hotel into an experience of happy anticipation. The Bloberger Hof sounds perfect, I only wish we could stay longer.
