Yes! The mighty ETAPs -- one of the best deals going. Sometimes, right next door, there's the even cheaper Formule1. The rooms are identical to ETAP except you have to hike the halls for the shower and toilete. I know there's an ETAP at both places, but I can only picture an F1 at Carcassonne (and I think they're some distance apart -- F1 is walking distance of the walls and ETAP a couple of miles down the road).

In Carcassonne, Notre Dame de l'Abbaye (think I've got that right) is very inexpensive and literally across the street from the old city walls. You get a B&B room in a functioning abbey. Comes with secure courtyard & parking lot.
