accomodations in Barcelona

Would like to stay in a hotel of similar quality to Hotel Capo d'Africa (http://www.hotelcapodafrica) in Rome which we loved! Like to be close to things but also near where people actually live.

Pearl,

I'm not familiar with the Hotel Capo d'Africa, so can't compare it to other locations.

You might check your local Library or Bookstores to see if they have a copy of the Spain Guidebook, as there's a variety of accommodations listed. You could also check TripAdvisor for reviews and recommendations.

You could also have a look at www.ricksteves.com/plan/destinations/spain/eixample.htm to see if any of these listings would be suitable.

You might want to delete your duplicate post on this subject before it attracts any replies.

Cheers!

Pearl - I just recently took a small group to Barcelona and stayed at The Hotel Royal Ramblas - right on La Rambla. An excellent location - fair price - and close to everything. Take a walk down La Rambla past the many cafes, street performers, musicians, artists and at the bottom you're in The Old Port - Aquarium, Restaurants, a whole lot of fun.
You should also pick up the open air Barcelona Bus which allows you to get off and on as often as you like - It shows you a lot of Barcelona - Fascinating.
The architecture of Antonio Gaudi is AMAZING! Montjuic is spectacular - they have a light show up there during the evening -
The Casino Barcelona is also very close to the bottom of La Rambla.
Have a Super time in Barcelona!! greg
