I will be traveling with my husband to Munich for this year's Oktoberfest. We're meeting up with friends who have arranged private accomodations for us, but they won't be available until the 10/6--the problem is, we arrive on the 4th. I managed to find us a double for the night of 10/4, but need something for the 5th. Everything is booked! Shame on me for thinking I had time! Anyway, does anyone have any recommenations for accomodations in neighboring areas just outside of Munich? Something that is only about a 10 minute train ride or so away? Rick's books are great, and I have Lonely too, but there's no info on surrounding areas and I think we're just going to have to stay outside of the city. Or, perhaps there are services that connect travelers with rooms in private homes in Munich? Please advise!!! Thanks!

If you go to http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g187309-Munich_Bavaria-Hotels.html and put in your dates, TA will tell you everything it can find for that date. Looks like there is quite a lot available - but its not cheap. I see that my favorite Munich Hotel - The Platzl - is available.
