We'll be touring Burgundy, but will take a side-trip to Aachen. Can you recommend accomodations, and what are the must-sees?

If you are ok with modern, you might check out All Seasons Aachen City. Clean, fun decor, helpful staff and relatively cheap. Highly rated on Trip Advisor. Yes, All Seasons is a chain, but there's not a huge number of choices in Aachen. I'd definitely stay there again. The one must-see is Charlemagne's Palatine Chapel (also known as the Cathedral or Dom). A stunning piece of architecture from the dark ages.
