Is there a centralized way to arrange accomodation in Austria - preferably not in large hotels, but rather jeets, villas, B and B's, small family hotels, farms, etc.
I'd also like to know where you go to arrange the 2-week Austrian rail itinerary that Rick Steves recommmends.
Any suggestions will be most welcome.
I have always depended on town websites (www.town_name.de) in Germany to find the best accommodations. Last year I spent some time in Austria, and it used the same technique (except ".at").
Try www.tiscover.com, which is a great central for B2Bs, private rooms etc. in Austria. They're a subsidiary of HRS.com which happens to be the largest hotel reservation service in the world.
