Accommodations in Zermatt

Anyone have suggestions for a place to stay in Zermatt,Switzerland? We will be there 2 nights at end of June. I am having a tough time finding something that doesn't break the bank AND most of the places I have contacted are already booked! Thanks

My father and I stayed at the Hotel Atlanta in Zermatt about 9 years ago.

I thought it was great, very very clean, and beds were lovely,, nice duvets . We had a room with a view of the Matterhorn too..
Breakfast was traditional ( cold cuts , breads cheeses) and bounitful. No complaints.
I see the rates are still very good too, only 110 Swiss francs at its peak,, which is only about 120 Canadian dollars so even less for Americans. And it includes the breakfast. Hope they have a vacancy for you.

It is basic, but really, I thought it was absolutely fine.

I've tried the places Rick Steves mentioned in his book, except the Hotel Romantica, and they are all booked. I have e-mailed many others listed on the Zermatt Tourism site. I've checked on Venere.com, Acarnos.com, Hospitalityclub.com, Americanexpress.com, Expedia.com, etc, etc. Maybe I will try the city of Tasch(sp) next which is 15 min. away.

Fingers crossed for you,, let us know if you get in, and let us know how it was after you stay there. It such a small isolated town, that once its full , its full. Hotels listed in RS books do book up fast though .. so maybe you will get lucky with this one as it is "undiscovered". Good luck.

Thank you for the information. The Tannenhof was booked. I did however hear back from the Hotel Atlanta and they had what we needed! I will report on our experience when we get back this summer. I appreciate the help and advice:)
