We have 1 night in the Loire Valley (our son wants to see Chenonceau) before we head north to Normandy. We've been to that area three times. We'll be going north to Le Mans so thought the Amboise area would be good. Thoughts on any of these places:
Hotel de Blason, La Grange Chambres, Hotel Belle-Vue, L'Auberge de Launay(5 miles away), Hostellerie du Chateau (Chaumont sur Loire). Thanks for any imput or other ideas.
Auberge du Bon Laboureur- is a restaurant /hotel just about 100 yards from the gates to Chenanceau. probably quite expensive, but wonderful ambiance. We had a wonderful meal there after visiting Chenanceau, including a tour through the restaurant's kitchen garden. If ever I am back there i would seriously consider trying to stay there. It would really cap the experience of the Chenanceau visit Chenanceau Chateau is really great- my hat is off to your son's good taste
I see that you've already booked at place, but for others reading this... we stayed at Hotel Belle-Vue and it was AWFUL. I do not recommend it.
We stayed at the Auberge de Launay and loved it. Friendly folks, wonderful meal plan option , food excellent and reasonable. Very easy to access and exit...along the road (no noise issues) so no in-town driving hassles. Young owners trained in US at top rated hotels. 4 nights here in May 2008 and toured the Loire chateaux...one of our best ever few days in many trips abroad. Good luck!
Thanks Brian and Denny for your replies. I had just booked th Auberge de Launay, so it was nice to see your positive comments.
We stayed in Amboise at the Hotel Le Clos Amboise and really enjoyed it. Convenient location in town and easy to walk to many places. Easy drive to Chenonceau

Judy,
My wife and I stayed at La Grande Chambres and had a lovely time. Madam Sevin(?) was a lovely, lively host! Excellent accomodations.
We spent 3 nights at La Grange Chambres two years ago and had a wonderful time. The hostess was charming and made us feel very much at home We were within walking distance of restaurants and anything we needed. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay.
We've stayed at this place in Amboise and it's awesome: http://www.manoirlesminimes.com/uk/navigation.php It's like staying in an elegant country home. The pictures on the website will give you an idea.
