Accommodations in Erding

I plan on staying in Erding Sept 18th and 19th or Sept 19th and 20th. I have checked Erding's web-site for accommodations and have found a few but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. I like B&Bs and under 70EU for a double if possibe. I know it's already the start of Octoberfest at that time so I want to get start on reservations as soon as possible.

This past May we stayed at Eurotel which is a little bit outside Erding but directly on the S-Bahn line and a station right across the street. The hotel was fine, but the breakfast was a bit costly. Because we had a car, we either ate at a McDonalds just down the road, or drove into town.

What is the attraction of Erding? Is it the proximity to the airport? If so, you might find Freising as attractive. It's also at the end of an S-Bahn line into town and a short bus trip to MUC.

In Sept, I stayed at Kleines Gaestehaus in Freising. It was nice enough and a short walk to the Bahnhof/bus stop; a double room is €65. Breakfast in your room is included. I never saw the landlord. Everything for breakfast was set up (juice, meat, cheeses, butter in a small refrigerator), fresh rolls in a drawer, toaster and prefilled coffee maker on the counter. There were also printed instructions on the counter, but I don't remember if they were in English or in German (which I can also read).

Some people also like Hotel zur Gred, www.hotelzurgred.de (I've never stayed there), but they recently raised their prices and are now €88 for a DZ with breakfast.

Steve and Lee... thanks for the ideas. Traveling this time with a friend, his first time to Europe. I'm trying to plan a car pick up up/drop off, avoid Oktoberfest pricing but visit München via S Bahn and a few other issues. Have decided on a Germany (Rhein/Mosel) Lux and Bel. itnerary this time. Will save Germany (Bavaria)/Austria for next trip. Thanks again... P.S. Lee... American... made with German parts :)

HI,

While not a B&B (of course), we stayed at the Park Hotel (Best Western) in Erding as our "last night" in Germany before an early morning flight. 2 blocks from the train station and just a few minutes walk to the charming old town of Erding. We actually liked Erding itself and found it to be very nice.

The place that I mentioned to you offline, in Poing, charges €74 for room with 2 single beds and €80 for a room with a double bed, a little above your goal. That includes a generous, German style breakfast buffet. They don't indicate any increase for Oktoberfest.

When looking at hotels in that area, particularly American oriented chains, beware that, although it is traditional in German for a hotel to provide breakfast, chain hotels often leave breakfast off the price, to make themselves look competitively price, adding it instead for an additional $20-$25 per person.
