I am seeking a quiet, inexpensive place to stay for two in Avignon in October for a week. Does anyone know if the centre-ville neighborhood is quiet? Are there parts of town to avoid?

I've stayed at Hotel du Parc (in Rick's books). It was inexpensive, small, nice, reasonably quiet, and between the town train station and the center of town. There are a couple more small, inexpensive hotels nearby (also in Rick's book on Provence). "Centre-ville" may be that big, busy and possibly noisy street at the center of town.
