Accommodations for a family of 5--Munich and Salzburg

We're traveling in June with our 3 teenagers and looking for lodging on a budget. We're wondering about Wombats in Munich...is it too much of a party place for a conservative family? Suggestions for Salzburg? Thanks.

We are a family of 5 too, except ours are 13, 11 and 7. So we like to find rooms that can fit all 5 of us together (very tough) or double rooms in out of the way places that work out to about the same price. And we are going to be there in July!!

We have a reservation at;

http://www.hotel-muenchner-kindl.de/Hotel_Munchner_Kindl/WILLKOMMEN.html

in Munich, where they had a room for 5 that was reasonably priced - 130 Euro/night with breakfast. I wouldn't worry about a hostel being too loud and roudy, but the Munich hostels were expensive and if I recall correctly, this hotel was actually less expensive.

In Salzburg we are staying at;

where we have a family "apartment" (2 rooms) for 95 Euro/night with breakfast.

-Not particularly conservative, but hoping to be helpful :-)

I'd look for apartments. It'll give you more room to stretch out, plus a kitchen and washer and dryer. Others may have suggestions for specific places, but you can do a search for "holiday apartments Munich" and the same for Salzburg and see what turns up. When you've found places that look good, you can always ask on here or search on Tripadvisor to see if others have stayed there.

Apartments will also cost you less per day than hotels or B&B's. You don't get free breakfast, but having access to a kitchen, for me, more than makes up for that.
