Accomadations close to Neuschwanstein & Hohenschwangau Castles

Hotel Muller is located right at the base of the castles. Don't know if it fits your budget but it is considered moderate. The hotel is wonderful with a most helpful staff and great breakfast. Plenty of parking and the hotel will arrange for tics to tour the castles. Our room had a view of Neuschwanstein and you can walk to the castle, take a carriage ride, or the shuttle bus. We chose the latter and walked back down. Since you will have a car try to visit Weiskirche , a baroque church sitting in the countryside just a few miles from the castles.

Hello, not even close. It's $112 just to start, so one that has a balcony or view is going to be even more. We can stay in Fussen or Schwangau, or? The Muller looks very nice... just out of our budget. Thanks

Shelley - we stayed at this place in 2011 http://www.alpenhotel-allgaeu.de/. It's just a little ways to the east, but you can still see Neuschwanstein. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel.

We stayed in Fussen (June, 2011) at the Hotel Hechten. It may not be as cheap as you want, but read the reviews at TripAdvisor about people's experiences, at least the 1st 10. This is the link directly to the hotel and it has lots of info about the area, including on the castles. We were able to park for free there in our little Opel. There are lots of pictures of the rooms and the parking area on the TripAdvisor listing. Be sure to check out the packages on the direct link to their website under Prices and Booking, Packages 2013, but notice that they are per person. I tested them against individual prices for what they include, and they were cheaper. If you end up at this place, also note that you have to drive a little way in the pedestrian zone to get to the entrance to the parking area. It feels weird, but it's not the only place we've ever had to do that.

We found a place in Schwangau for just what we wanted to pay so Thank you one and all. :) and we have a view of the castle! :)
