We are wondering if it is possible to visit the Aalsmeer flower markets and/or auction after 11:00 in the morning (when the auction is over). We have a 24 hour stopover at Schiphol Airport and want to plan a field trip while we are there. We are thinking about staying in a hotel at the airport. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks, Susie
11am is too late. The complex closes to visitors after 10 am, week days only.

Also near the airport are the Keukenhof Gardends:
Thank you for the information. I realized the auction was over at 11:00, but wondered if you could just go inside the building after 11 to see all the flowers so your links were very helpful. I should mention that we will be there Jan.31 so we're thinking it will probably be pretty chilly. Do you have another suggestion for a nearby destination, open at that time of the year? A little village with a beautiful cathedral would be nice.... :)
Susie
Ahh January, in that case the Keukenhof Gardends will also be closed. The next the best place to visit (other than Amsterdam) would by the the city of Haarlem- also very near the airport. There is a very nice Cathedral in the city center: Grote Kerk (Great Church).
