My husband and I are going to be in Switzerland at the end of September and we would love to stay at the Grandhotel Giessbach on Lake Brienz. Has anyone been there? Can you recommend day trips to take from this location?

I was in Switzerland last year in Oct. and my husband and I took the steamer on Lake Brienz and saw the hotel on the lake side. It looks beautiful and I would like to stay there too. If you buy the swiss pass it covers the steamers and trains. We did a day trip to Brienz by tain and then took the bus to the Ballengurg outdoor museum. The bus took us back to Brienz and we took the steamer on the lake. It was all covered by the swiss pass. You can also take some of the high mountain lifts to some great hiking. Jungfrau and Schilthorn are awesome trips that I would do again. You could drive to Lucern for the day too. There is so much in this area to see and do.
