My wife and I are going to France this summer. We'll be in Paris a few days at the beginning and the end of the trip. In between we are hiking lots of trails though out the country. Is there some place to store our nicer clothes/shoes for Paris and not have to carry them all over France?

We left our extra bag at our hotel - no charge - while touring around for 14 days. This should work out, if your returning to the same accomodation for the remainder of your trip.

As above, I routinely leave a bag in storage at my hotel; come back in a week or two and pick it up for a decent tip. Usually I stay there before and after...

I did something similar in Germany. After the business part of my trip, I dropped my bag with business attire at Frankfurt airport's baggage storage area - then headed out with a largish daypack for a week of solo touring. This was days after 9/11 and I was worried all bag storage would be closed.
I've also used train station lockers, usually for a few hours to one day, in train stations. It's easy and cheap.
There should be a similar accomodation at the airport, train station or both.

Maybe you could ask the hotel where you will be staying at the end of the trip if you could store some things there.
