I was planning on staying in Nice for two nights, but changed my mind. I'm going in September, right after living the whole summer in a beach town, and would rather see a neat village than a beach destination.
Do you guys know any places to visit between the two cities for two nights in France? Thanks!

Check out Beaune, Lyon or Avignon to see it they are cities that have what you're looking for.

You could also consider Arles, as it's a nice smaller town with lots of history.
Just a clarification - are you looking for a mid-point stop, or several stops over a few days?
Vaison-la-romaine, near Avignon /
Sainte-Agnes, just up the hill from Menton /
Ventimiglia, just over the Italian border /
or Lucca, just up from Pisa
-- if you decide to go through Lyon
Chamonix-Mont-Blanc or Courmayeur /
Modena
-- if you decide to pass just south of Geneva
BTW, FYI - if you are doing the journey by train, Ventimiglia becomes an excellent choice, as this is where the train changes from the SNCF to the Trenitalia network.
