A few days in Bordeaux are

We are considering a few days in the Bordeaux region in fall of 2014 and wondered if others have recommendations of hotels, small towns, restaurants. We have looked at Orphorus day trips to the wineries as an option. Any suggestions?

Bordeaux is a very overlooked city. We had a great time there. So many great restaurants. The longest shopping street in Europe is there too. You can shop until you drop and have fantastic food. The city itself is very nice too.
