Hi! My friends and I (group of nine) are travelling to Europe this August and part of the trip is a day and a half in Lucerne. Schedule is as follows: Luzern 8/12/2013 10PM Arrive in Luzern Luzern 8/13/2013 1 Daytrip
Luzern 8/14/2013 6PM 0.5 Depart to Milan Can you give us suggestions on how to spend our trip in this interesting place?
Elizabeth, It depends quite a bit on what you like to do. My wife and I spend two days there last September. He is what we wanted (and tried to do) in the order listed: 1) Do the Golden Round Trip up Mt. Pilatus. It is an interesting trip up a nearby mountain for great views and is right there in Lucerne. 2) Do the Rick Steves walk through Lucerne. Get access to one of his guidebooks and it is outlined there. It hits a lot of the sights in Lucerne. 3) Many people think it is a must to se the famous Lion of Lucerne. It does not take too much time to see. 4) Take a boat ride on the lake (and you will if you do the Golden Round Trip).
5) If there is a concert when you are there attend a concert in Lucerne's concert hall.
I concur with Ken regarding Mt. Pilatus . Do yourself a favor and go to top of this page and enter Lucerne or Luzern in search box and review old posts and you'll get a ton of ideas. Your problem then is to determine what to include in your day and one-half.
