Planning a trip to the Dordogne in late October. Are most caves, restaurants, and activities open? Weather too iffy. Can't go earlier. Should we put this one off and wait 'til the following September?
Everything's open. Check wunderground or similar to see if the weather suits you - - anything else is anecdotal.
As part of a 5 week driving tour around France, we will be in the Dordogne in early October, here is a couple of links I am using to plan my itinerary and route.. http://www.northofthedordogne.com/ http://www.francetriptailor.com/en/c/trip-the-perigord << I'm liking this website although not using the company. One of my many notes...Sarlat seems to be on everybody's list of favourite places in the Dordogne. Abeautiful town has loads of fabulous buildings, narrow medieval streets and beautiful squares. Sarlat is described as a nice lively town even in winter. * Note to myself..*** Perhaps make our base near Sarlat ? ...

Sarlat is lovely and worth a day or two. When we were there in '08 on Market day there was a vendor making an Enormous Paella. The pan was the size of a childs blow up pool. The Paella was delicious and sold by weight. I would imagine that would be a warm treat on a october day.
