Train Confusion

So...is it better to book a train ticket from Paris to Belgium when a few days before we are ready to go? Or...is it better to book a train online from Canada now. I booked a rail ticket from Paris to London return for another weekend, and received a coupon for 25% off my next railpass. Is this useful for the Thalys train system?

Answer to Question #1 - It is better to BOOK EARLY. Thalys trains have very good early bird prices and promotions.

Answer to Question #2 - Unless Paris-Amsterdam is one of many trips and/or you are uncertain of travel dates, a rail pass is not necessary. Thalys trains require a relatively hefty reservation fee (11E/$22USD or $59USD with 1st Class France Passes). I found fares as low as 25E for Paris-Bruxelles trains with the SNCF. Save your coupon for more pass-friendly journeys.
