Does anyone know if this is now open for tourists?

Yes it is open. My friend and His wife were there in December 2011 and I've seen their great photos. Don't know where all this talk about closures came from?

'The valley' certainly was closed in 2009 for two something years. The present government, upon election, fairly promptly re-opened.

Definitely open - I was just past there a week or so ago. The Spanish friend I was traveling with told me, though, that there is currently some talk of demolishing it (which is the first I had heard of that).
He feels, though, that whatever people's feelings are about it, it should be allowed to remain.
