Would there be anyone out there who is connected in any way to the 84TH Infantry Div. of WWII? My late father-in-law passed early last year and my wife and I will be trying to retrace their "Path" while engaged in the War and are looking for a few pointers of where to stopo and see. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We have read the book about their ordealsand battles, but don't know if anyone else has taken a trip along this route. Blessngs.
Ed,
Not connected in any way to the 84th but below is a link to some discussions about the 84th on the Wild Bill Guarnere site (If you watched Band of Brothers you will be familiar with Guarnere). Although this is an old thread there are a couple of books mentioned in the posts by various people that might be of help to you. Also, you could join the WBG site and possibly contact some of those people who have knowledge of the 84th Division. http://forums.wildbillguarnere.com/index.php?showtopic=1602&hl=84th+division.
Good luck.
I'm not sure which areas the 84th fought in, but if you would like to trace some of the WW2 battle sites, please look into www.alpventures.com I've done their D-Day and Battle of the Bulge tour all through Normandy and Belgium. I've also done their Secrets tour all through Nuremburg, Munich, and Berchtesgaden, and their Ruins tour through Paderborn, Hamburg, Berlin, and Nordhausen.
If the tours he has do not quite meet your needs, I know he does do personalized tours. I cannot say enough good about this company. I have thoroughly enjoyed all 3 tours, and have my 4th planned for this June.
You can also check out http://www.stephenambrosetours.com/index.html. They offer several trips that follow the routes of WWII divisions (101st airborne included). I know on the Band of Brothers one they actually have the veterans accompany the tour.
