Cheapest is via vaporetta and bus. Next is the Alaguna boats, and most expensive is water taxi. The best depends on the amout of luggage and time of departure. Check out veniceforvisitors.com. It has gobs of information about this subject. Hope this helps. TC

Go outside the terminal and you will find a bus stops for two bus system ACTV and ATVO. Both have inexpensive bus runs to the Piazzale Roma. Fare should be just under 5 Euro. You can pay onboard. Once at the Piazzale Roma, you take either the #1 or #2 vaporetto to the Vallaresso stop. The #2 is more of an express and makes fewer stops but both will get you there for the same fare. A one-way vaporetto ticket is 6.50E. However, you can buy 12hr, 24hr, 48hr and 72hr tickets that provide unlimited rides during the time period you purchase. I believe that you can buy these tickets at the HelloVenezia booth at the airport or at the Piazzale Roma. You can also buy them online.
