hotel in paris

I have two teenagers who want a big hotel room! Any suggestions? What about Marais area?

Hi , are teenagers paying ? Hotel rooms in Paris not known for being large, unless you are willing to fork out at least 300++ euros a night.

Perhaps renting an apartment is a better idea.

Paris has a bit of a reputation for small hotel rooms. It is difficult to know in advance how big the room will be, and you will probably have to pay extra for a big room, if you can find one.

Jane,

Any European Hotel will be small by American standards.

I would suggest either Hotel Muguet in the 7th if you require a/c or Hotel Grand Ecoles in the Latin Qtr.

Both are excellent & I have stayed at both

The Mije(in Rick Steves book) has 3 places in the Marais and all were fine. I thought they were pretty well sized too. Absolutely stay away from Hotel Sully in the Marais on the main st(rivoli I think). I couldn't believe it was in Rick's book. It was the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in. And I am 99% sure they rent by the hour based on a question the man at the desk asked when we checked in.

Jane,
Maybe what you really need is an apartment in lieu of a hotel. There is a Paris apartment rental business, based in the USA, called Vacation-In-Paris. Clients say they are wonderful. You could see apartment photos online and even call these managers toll-free about room sizes. To toll-free call click on "contact" at the bottom of the home page of this web site:

Has anyone stayed at Hotel Albe or Hotel De Champaigne in Paris?

Jane didn't stay at Hotel Albe , but was very close to booking it. I think your teenagers will love the area, lots for them to wander around and see, but I have heard( I really research things, LOL ) that it can be a bit noisey if you get a room facing front of street( it is in a lively area), so if view doesn't matter maybe book rooms that face blah courtyard.
I would put it on " the list" .
Check out reveiws by just googling hotel name in your search engine, and check out reveiws on "tripadvisor.com paris forums" they are all reader reviews .
Good luck
