Looking for a decent hotel in Paris within walking distance to most attractions. Any ideas?
Well what is budget? How many people. I have stayed in about 8 or 9 different places, all decent, but I would suggest different ones for different people. Price ranges from 60-180 euros a night.. all central , clean, some were more "budget" as in tiny rooms, older furnishings.. Most had a/c and mini fridges( I like to stock them with snacks and drinks) but not all.
Sue, You might find it helpful to have a look at Maps in the France or Paris Guidebooks. That will allow you to get some idea which area most of the attractions you want to visit are located. You can view some of the Maps at Amazon.com. Search for the Rick Steves Paris book and then click the arrow that says "Look Inside This Book". There are some clear Maps shown, with attractions listed. I'd suggest buying a copy of the Guidebook, either in paper or E-book format. I've found they're a great reference source for planning touring "on the fly". The Eiffel Tower, Rodin Museum, etc. are all located near Rue Cler, so that's a popular area for many to stay in. There are some good restaurants in the area, and easy access to the Metro via the Ecole Militaire stop. Happy travels!
